Garnet Carbuncle Mourning Brooch with Blue Enamel


A late Victorian brooch with a large garnet carbuncle in the center surrounded by seed pearls. On the back is an engraving for ‘Reverend R Greene ob (obit) 8th, Aug  1873 Ae 45.  

Normal antique wear, heavy oxidation to the gilt on the reverse, this can professionally be buffed out, wear to the foiling behind the garnet from age and possibly moisture

Dimensions: 1.75” across, 1.5” from top to bottom
