This large example of a reverse painting crystal (Essex crystal named after Thomas Essex who is said to have created this art) is phenomenal. Behind the painting of the dog is mother of pearl that doesn’t appear to have any water damage. On the back of the piece is an empty compartment that could be used to house a photograph. It is getting rarer to find larger examples of this beautiful pieces.
Condition: Normal antique wear, the gold on the reverse is oxidized and likely a result of the jewelry being stored with silver.
